East Village CLOSED — Sleepy Caveman

I’ve lived in the East Village for 30 years starting out as a street artist and then getting my big break painting 60 feet of ceiling mirrors for the Broadway musical RENT. Since then I‘ve worked for some of the largest global brands, public art projects, and events around the world.

I’ve recently been working on a book project called “East Village Closed”. I’ve taken photographs of what the neighborhood looked like during 2020 and the people who live here. I then draw on the photograph and tell the story of what I have personally experienced as an artist during the quarantine and what’s happening today. From riots to boarded-up businesses to the spirit of the people of the east village they represent a time I will never forget.
