McSorley’s Old Ale House has been standing for 172 years, and over all that time, things naturally get worn, damaged, and in need of some love. That’s where EV Fine Art stepped in. We recently restored two historic articles so they could continue their journey decorating the magic walls of this historic bar.
The first, a New York Post article, was scanned and meticulously restored using the original photo taken for the piece. The second—a feature celebrating McSorley’s 150th anniversary and artist-in-residence Gregory de la Haba—required a complete overhaul. We entirely re-typeset the text and replaced the faded imagery with the original, high-resolution scans I took myself 20 years ago.
